Circularly Polarized Antenna for C and X-Band Applications using Characteristic Mode Analysis

This article describes a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed inverted L- strip slot antenna implementation along with characteristic mode analysis (CMA) to obtain circular polarization (CP) broad bandwidth. The design includes microstrip annular ring patch and an L-strip asymmetric square slot. resonant radiating behavior of the are analyzed using CMA for first six modes (CMs) attain CP. microstrip-fed is then excited based on CMs response achieve broadband To further assess accuracy simulation results, prototype fabricated single-layered FR-4 substrate measuring 25×25 mm2 . Upon measurement, displays S11 less than -10 dB 59.6% (5.50 - 10.17 GHz) impedance bandwidth 3dB 46.8% (5.98 9.64 axial ratio proposed antenna's operating may include satellite naval radar required military applications.
